Individual Therapy

I like to take an active and focused approach to therapy to help you understand the root of your problem, improve your relationships and your sense of self, decrease symptoms, and to live more fully in the moment. I use a blend of psychodynamic, cognitive, and experiential techniques, and enjoy working with the following issues:

Individuals who are

  • Feeling sad, depressed, or angry, and can't seem to shake it.
  • Afraid to get emotionally close to anyone because of painful relationship experiences from long ago.
  • Always anxious and feeling uncomfortable.
  • Finding themselves in self-defeating patterns with others close to them.
  • In recovery from an addictive behavior, but who feel that something is still "missing" and who would like to work through the "core" of their suffering.

Individuals in a relationship who are

  • Ambivalent about their relationship--"on the fence" about staying or leaving.
  • Ashamed and surprised you find yourself constantly interested in others.
  • Fearful about getting closer and opening up emotionally to your partner.
  • Having difficulty with sexual intimacy.
  • Thinking of ending your relationship.

Individual and Group Supervision

I offer both individual and group supervision to those who are seeking their Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential in the District of Columbia, or for those who are just seeking supervision in general. I am also available to do supervision via Skype. This allows us meet at convenient time and place, and by utilizing the "share screen" function, I can observe and provide feedback of your sessions that you have videotaped.
